SRM-Rhotard®, a 12 hour sustained release morphine sulphate tablet, was first introduced into China in 1996 by Lotus Healthcare. It was first manufactured in Lianyungang Lotus, a Lotus Joint Venture with Chinese partners. Lotus has divested the assets of the Joint Venture to the Chinese partners and is in the process of reregistering the site of manufacture of SRM-Rhotard® to Weihai Lotus. SRM-Rhotard® is in comparative clinical testing and is expected to regain marketing approval from the changed manufacturing location in 2019.
